After years not playing any muds, I got an urge to start playing again. I tried a couple of different muds while U2's 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' pounding in my head. But there it was, Midnight Sun 2.
It is newbie friendly with many areas suitable for new players. Good help files to get started and if you need help there are always older players willing to answer questions or help with good equipment.
The quest system is very good with advise about which quests are suitable for which levels. There are over 60 quests. Solve a puzzle, slay a monsters or two, mix a potion; there are a great variety of quest to solve. You don't need to do any quest, but it helps to level faster.
The areas are consistent with the medieval fantasy theme. Areas you can manage by your own and areas you need friends to help you out to explore. Areas to solve quests in and areas to go berserk in.
There are eight different guild with their own style of playing. Spellcaster or blademaster, the choice is yours to make.
The people on Midnight Sun are helpful and friendly. The admins are active and they try to make us mortal ones happy with their updates.
All good or? I like to try different guilds, but it is hard as you need to be very high level player to start a new second char. You can switch between guilds but it cost a bit as you might need to re-roll your stats. I have not explored all areas yet, but I would like the world to be a bigger. The equipment is not saved between reboots, but you get new set rather quick by yourself or with help by your friends. I miss big parties that clear an area from all monsters. But all together I say: thumbs up!
