Legends of Excalibur (LoE)

     

For many years, the kingdoms of Dhanloria, Britannica, and the Farlands were united under the banner of King Arthur Pendragon. But this time of peace would not last. King Arthur eventually passed on, and the three kingdoms split, bickering over who should hold power. Alliances formed, and the world fell to chaos.

Some formed clans and orders, becoming self-sufficient. Others follow closely to their kingdom, swearing allegiance and working on making them the rightful power in the realms, and still others flee underground, swearing no alliance, but forming small bands of mercenaries and brigands.

The path before you is not an easy one, but no path is wrong. We implore you to come and play, and enjoy what we have to offer. 500 levels, 16 classes, and several races create a rich and vibrant world, filled with kind people, and plenty of game play.

One of the most expansive, original, and versatile muds I've ever played. Tons of classes to choose from with multi-class allowed. Lots of quests and areas to explored. To top it all of it supports both pk and nonpk through an innovative system. I'd highly recommend it to anyone interested in fantasy muds. It's easy to play and newbie friendly.

I've been here for a week or so, and I found a rather intriguing fondness of LoE. Mostly the mud is Hack and Slash, but there is some RP to the game as well. Granted it is sometimes few and far between. I've heard both good and bad about the place. However, the only thing I can see upsetting about the mud is the lack of Deadly Players (aka PK Players) ;) which isn't anything the staff can do about. That is all up to the players.

To be quite honest, I can see LoE becoming a top of the line mud. Yes, there are typos and minor flaws but that is found everywhere. Just look at your occasional word documents and you will find typos. Anyhow, enough rambling. I am pleased with LoE to say the very least and hope that others will stumble across this mud, or be lured to it like my wife did to me. ;)

Note to Staff: Great job in the idea of helping the new players with equipment and spell ups. When I started, that helped me a tremendous amount and got me hooked more or less on the game. You guys were very kind to me with showing me a few of the ins and outs to stay alive on the game. May the Mud Gods bless your world with an enormous Player Base.

Legends of Excalibur seem to be the only mud I've ever played. I've been around for quite some time now, and I've seen many changes in my time here. There is so much intelligence put into this mud it really makes you appreciate the creativity behind it. I have played this mud off and on for 8 years now and I plan to continue.

There are so many things to do on the mud. To start, as many other players have previously stated, there are 28 races, each of which offer bonuses and penalties for your character. There are also 16 classes to choose from, which can be dual classed (level 150) and tri-classed (level 300) to either continue in the class you first chose, or a different one to mix things up a bit. The maximum level is 500!

There are also players that enjoy roleplaying; some of their characters are created for roleplaying purposes. There are also well respected Elders that help the Immortal Staff out any way they can, and do the same for players. The Immortal Staff is well respected as well. They seem to know what their doing, and often give helpful spells out randomly to encourage the players to continue leveling and having fun with each other.

If you’re looking to get into a mud that is entertaining, and offers a friendly environment with helpful players, I recommend this mud for you!

Hello mudders, I have been around muds for a long time but i can really only get into this one. It is very newbie friendly or for the experienced mudder there is much to do. 500 levels to progress through....many Clans for the deadly life and orders for the Peaceful mudder, many classes and races to choose from. No two paths are the same.

What can I say but WOW! I have played many other MUDs and have always found them lacking something...I now know what that was, awesome IMMs and newbie friendly players. Having only played here a few weeks, I know I have only scratched the surface of what LoE has to offer, but they have what it takes to keep me coming back for much, much more!

This is without a doubt one of the most newbie-friendly muds i have ever played. The roleplaying is there and rewarded if you choose to do so, but not enforced with an Iron Hand.

They have a speed walk map that will direct you to hundreds of places to quest, Kill and Level. Why other muds don't do this is beyond me. This is the first time I have ever even considered writing a review for a mud, it's that good! So stop by and check it out.

Legends of Excalibur is the best mud I've ever played. It has a rich environment for roleplaying, exploring, hacking, slashing, leveling, becoming the strongest in the land, et cetera.

28 races and 16 base classes. With dual and triclassing options of either becoming a more advanced form of your class or an entirely different one, along with 500 levels to attain, you have TONS of possibilities to play as, as well as great diversity among other players.

As for questing, there is no place better. LoE has a kingdom based quest system to gain points towards buying the best equipment in the game, money, or training points to improve your stats. It also has dozens of area quests, giving you awesome equipment, and providing lots of challenge and fun. And don't forget quests given by order, clan, and kingdom leaders to gain rank, and any other quests people may give for... whatever.

If player killing is your thing, there are plenty of other PK players, and a great clan system for team competition and raiding. Not so violent toward your peers? Orders take the place of clans for the more peaceful people, and have competitions, and are just plain fun to be in.

The immortals and elders are nice and easy to work with, and there is always some sort of cool RP thing going on with them. So come on, join one of the four kingdoms, fight in the wars, and shape the future of the lands!

This is the best place to be if you want to make some good friends and earn status gradually. The players here are the friendliest I have seen, including the Immortals.

There are a wide variety of classes to choose from. The dual class and triclass quests are challenging and demands patience and wise decisions. There are many responsibilities you can choose from to add to your playing experience. Altogether this mud may help you improve your overall character.

I've been playing on LoE for about a year now and I can tell you that it far exceeded my expectations as far as depth of play, character creation, RP involvement, and player activity. I've only played on a handful of other muds, so I can't say I'm a vet, but they all seemed to lack something. Some were too easy to advance, or didn't have the player base that LoE has, or had a very narrow class range. You can make just about any kind of character you want and play it however you want, from an RP perspective.

They have a wide variety of player-run systems, like the Kingdoms, Clan System, Order System, Role Play Council and Player Kill Council. Speaking of PK, it's very challeng- ing here, but not necessary to have a fulfilling experience. There are some who enjoy watching their character grow peacefully, while others have the natural hunger to draw blood. Not to mention the wide variety of both Questmaster and more advanced Area quests for the best equipment in the realms.

The things that most set this place apart are the player base and Immortal Staff, without which there would be no LoE. You can always find someone to help you get out of a jam, or lend advice to a new player. Though there will be times when you will struggle, it's that balance between challenges and triumphs that make you come back.

I truly believe that when you join, you will find that there's nothing like it out there, and you'll want to invite your friends to join you here.

I'm a player of Legends of Excalibur. I've spent alot of time in this mud and to me, it's the best game I have ever played. Times change and there are always new better things about the mud. For instance, kingdoms have been implemented so there are many ways your journey could begin in the realms.

One of my favorite things about to mud is the people. The mud has about 30 players who will stop at nothing to help you out. It's very easy to make friends there.

Every class and race has different things that make them unique. For instance, there are fighting classes: Warrior, Hunter, Heretic, Viking, Monk Which all are completely different from each other. Monks are unarmed combat with many attacks. Hunters rely on luck and poisons for swift kills and so on.

But there are also spellcasters which are also very different from each other. Like some spellcasters rely on protection and healing abbilities but the mage class has no healing abilities and is offensive.

I'm sure you would enjoy this mud, every mud I've tried I've ended up back to this mud because simply put, this mud is the best. :) I hope to see you there and if you ever need help, connect and ask me for it, I'd be happy to show you around and help you out.

Legends of Excalibur, What can I say? I have known this mud for quite awhile, and although I have tried many others, I keep coming back to Legends of Excalibur. The players and people I have met here have kept me here for the last 7 years.

There are many (28) races, and several (16) classes, all of which can be dual classed, and then tri-classed (at levels 150 and 300, respectfully) to either continue on your class path or to diverge to another. Making several different combinations of classes, giving players a chance to make their character unique. We encourage roleplaying, and have a council to help facilitate it. We also have many helpful players, and Elders (kind of like, helpers to the immstaff) who are happy to help people get on their feet.

Overall, LoE is a great place. And it's free, so why not come check it out and see what you think of it yourself? :)

Well, what can I say.

LoE has been my second home, and my all-time favorite mud. As a rather experianced MUD player, I can truly say this mud has everything one needs.

There are 500 levels - don't be alarmed. They balance out, and eventually leveling is as fast as with the stock 50 levels (Well, maybe a little bit slower, but it is very challenging and fun). After 150 levels, you can dual class (you can either expand your own class from the HUGE variety of unique skills and spells, created by great coders, or you can dual class into another path), and at level 300 you can triclass (same deal). You can also be part of an Order or Clan, and work with people to achieve mutual goals.

Roleplaying, although not enforced, is highly encouraged. I would like to see more Roleplaying in the game, but from time to time you can definitely see people talking about old, obsessed Berserkers pillaging the streets of Camelot.

The world is mostly original, some Stock areas were implemented, but they were changed to fit the general King Arthur theme (Midgaard=Camelot, etc..). All in all, the code is highly modified, with a very nice PK system that constantly gets updated (You don't have to be a pkiller if you don't want to). Many areas have area quests, which also challenge your mind.

LOE is definitely not a pure, boring, hack-and-slash mud. There is MUCH MUCH MORE to it.

Aside from the great game code (the mud never crashes), there are excellent people. They are all very helpful, always willing to assist with any problem you have. The unique Knights of the Round Table system allows the Immortals to concentrate on improving the game- side, while the more experienced players are always willing to lend a hand to those who need it.

Come on in, you won't be disappointed. I've been playing for 3 years now, and I never get bored.
