Hello. I'm a immortal at a fairly small mud that has had the job of running the whole show by myself for a while untill the other imm's get done with real life issues. I'd like to know how to get a copy of the source from the server and how to go about updating the help files. I'm not sure how to put in the new help file information. Any help at all would be great. Thank you.

Well.. there are MANY different flavors of CircleMud out there, so your milage may vary.. but if you are just running a straight out of the box, no patches version of CircleMud.. you should go to ftp://ftp.circlemud.org/pub/CircleMUD/3.x/ and download what you think you need. But that is probably overlooking that you most likely already have the source... just go to the '/src' sub-directory in your MUD directory and all the code shuld be there....
Hope that helps!

Sorry, I'm going to show how clue-less I am here, but...
Its far from stock, and Im worried that if something happens to the code I dont have a copy to reload it. Its a Wolfpaw hosted mud. I dont know how to get it off Wolfpaw. Any help would be great. Thanks again.

You need to contact the owner of the mud and ask them for the username and password details to the account at Wolfpaw. You then need to log into the account using an FTP client and transfer the files you want to get to your local machine, although I can't see what use they would be to you.

How about putting in and updating the Help files. Do I just put them in that doc file and update the screen file or what?
Sorry for being so green, but Im trying to figure it out.

Stock circle 3.1 has the help files as plain text with the .hlp extension in the directory /lib/text/help/. Again you would need to login to the shell of your hosting account at Wolfpaw and edit the relevant files using a text editor.
This assumes your mud does not have some kind of 'hedit' facility as part of an OLC system.
