Newbie coder here..

I'm having a problem removing the stock areas.
I do everything i should, remove the exit links from the area i am keeping, delete the files and remove them from the area.are file, but i still have issues, and when i startup, they point out to a problem on a vnum that is not linked to any exit.
Could someone help me out?
The MUD is a ROM 2.4

Or if someone has used Valar's nsr RoT 1.4 code before and would know how to successfully make it (i get an error on the db.c file) could you please help me out with hit? thanks

It's likely the area is trying to load a mob or obj whose vnum is in a now-removed area. If so, try just deleting it, or changing it to the vnum for a similar item that still exists.

Or you could post details of the error here and see if anybody can determine the solution.

2 things

1) how would i go about deleting all those vnums?
2) im at school, so i do not have access to the mud files, but i know that when it tries to conver the db.c file to a .o, it doesnt work for some reason...but all the .c files until then are converted....when i get home i'll copy and paste the problem here, which will be before 3 PM Eastern

Did you delete everything but limbo? You need to keep limbo.are. Also, if you didn't delete limbo, the exit link error is being generated by the exit from limbo up into the room in Midgaard with Hassan.

I've removed stock areas so many times.

By the way, you'll still get problems with certain commands and spells, like the rose spell and the pack command, which try to call upon predefined objects in your merc.h file. I'm sure there are other commands that do this, I just don't remember them.

If you want a stock rom code without areas download quickmud, with the areas stripped, you should have no problems boooting, it has 4 stock areas Valhalla, Midgaard, Mudschool and Limbo however it is quite useful if you want to start a unique world

Also consider if other areas have portals or such things to the removed area. That would create a problem.
