I have been checking out many different MUDs in the past week, and I have noticed that a lot have _terrible_ pirates. In my experience, the pirate class really does reflect on the quality of the MUD a lot of the time. So many MUDs have a stock pirate class. Horrible peg legs, lime green parrots, ugly eye-patches, hideous ships with skull and cross bones flags. Just awful.

If a MUD doesn't even HAVE a pirate class, I don't even try it. If a MUD has one of those awful Pirates of the Caribbean circa 2003 pirate classes, I probably won't give it a second look, either.

Coming from a player that is looking for a new MUD home, you HAVE to have a decent pirate class if you want to attract players.

I'm sure you consider yourself quite the amateur comedian, but this is just stupid.

Don't be sad that KaVir made us laugh. You need to put on one of those eye patches and a horrid green parrot. Why?

You'd have to be stone cold not to burst a side laughing at this.

It's a great parody of the other thread. That doesn't change the original thread but I'll hope people are a bit more cheerful after being able to laugh some of their tension off a bit.

I'm not going to argue at all, I'm sure someone else will and I think it's funny as hell.

He's right you know. I logged on his MUD a while back. I got through character creation, looked around and decided the MUD was an absolute piece of *CENSORED*. Why? Because it had no pirate class!!! Nor even the slightest semblance of anything that looked like a pirate class! And I mean...the original 5 classes in DIKU were Magic-User, Cleric, Warrior, Thief, and Pirate. Since then the first 4 have phased out in most of todays MUDs to the point that their considered geeky or dorky, but Pirate is still NEEDED for a MUD to be worth my time at all. At which point I spammed his ass with tells telling him that to keep players he had better drop all his other projects, you know balance, new features, new areas, new spells, new attack patterns, as what was REALLY REALLY important was the Pirate class... He told me he'd get right on it and let me know when his MUD had a pirate class so I could come back, but being the uncouth person he was to not have originally had a Pirate class I didn't believe him...till now.

If pirates run around in skimpy animal skin/fur bikinis, stabbing things with spears and get additional armor bonuses for the amount of cleavage that they put on display then... yes! We have a winner! Yarr!
You wouldn't know a subtle plan if it painted itself purple and danced naked on top of a harpsichord singing 'Subtle Plans Are Here Again'

nope, no bonuses for cleavage, nor animal skins/fur bikinis... Oh well, maybe I have to re-think the whole thing and add pirates.

I don't know much about pirates, but I do know that this is the most kick ass pirate ever: http://maddox.xmission.com/
I say you guys should all collaborate and make a pirate class based off Maddox.

Also, this is off topic, but it looks like I have another fan -- Keriwena! That's almost like Rowena except she removed the beginning and replaced it with something else. Not bad.

Maddox is a pirateninja, technically.

And he already exists inside the heart of every immortal who's tossed out that random slay just because he could.
