A step above the mprogs world: NIMScripts, now for ROM! Get
it from the source: BlinkenScripts
http://gudagi.com/blinken/nimscripts_alpha.1.tar.gz

If you want to install this in your ROM or ROM variant, or
even Merc, please note that this version only has 80% of the
necessary functionality -- if you want me to finish this
release, I'd be happy to, but I want to see if people are
sincerely interested first.

Kind regards,

This thread has the capacity for 'Lulz'.

Putting aside the fact that this is Locke for a moment - what
exactly does this 80% functionality include and why would I
want to choose that over another codebase that is offering
100% functionality?

That is untrue. I don't know what your motivation is, but
your continuing libel is unwarranted and juvenile. In fact,
it's a bold-faced lie, one which you keep repeating because
you have no creativity. NiMUD takes very little from Merc
in the later iterations, as was proven by the case study
published on nimud.divineright.org .. you are about as
relevant as CNN's John King. There is sufficient evidence
that the work is transformative, rather than derived.

> 80% v 100%

I simply haven't had a chance to finish it, but what is
there could be integrated. It doesn't have the appropriate
editor hooks, so you would have to do that yourself. The
final version of this component will have the editor hooks
as part of the installation, but you can do that yourself by
extracting the script editor portion from NiMUD and
massaging it into your ROM with the current version. It's
still alpha, so additional testing needs to be done. Also,
I had to strip out functions that were specific to The Isles
and its Spell and Skill editors, so you are getting a
reduced version which you could then build upon to integrate
(rather easily using the provided c-function integration
macros) to your own MUD. This includes game-specific
functions that modify characters, your mud's specific
features, bonuses, affects, etc.

Anyway, I want to hear from some legitimate admins who have
an interest and intend to install it, before I spend the
remaining days on the project. It can run in parallel with
mprogs and other languages without much of an issue, and
does integrate the advanced debugger and "trace" action
recording feature.

It also includes a 'translative' portion, which allows
people to more easily integrate NiMUD snippetry into Mercs
and ROMs and their derivatives, as long as you deal with the
vocabulary changes (Mob->Actor, Obj->Prop, Scene->Room,
Area->Zone).

Regards,
-h

requirements AFTER people add the snippet to their code?

Again, lies. The NiMUD license, which was the previous
license used, required you to follow the Diku license, and to
contact an author. The AL 2.0 license, a widely accepted OS
license, is now used. Big deal. Both have similar non-
commercial restrictions and it is completely within my freedom
to announce a license change, though I do not anticipate doing
that again with the project in the foreseeable future. Who
cares that I changed licenses? It happens all the time in the
big adult world, kid.
