A new MUD code archive has been created at: http://www.fullgrownmonkey.com/muds/This archive contains over 1.5GB of MUD software and is the most complete repository on the 'net with the widest and most diverse collection of MUDs available anywhere. Download two one-shot archive segments or browse the directories for a trip back in time to all the MUDs that have come before.

It's really flattering to think that MudBytes + NiMUD is the widest and most diverse collection of MUDs available, but that's not true. If you want the widest selection, you have to visit The Sourcery. http://sourcery.dyndns.orgOf course, you wont find the hack-job, license violating NiMUD there either ;).

I DEMAND that my codebase LoCrelease be removed from this repository as i do NOT wish it to be associated with Locke, i am happy for it to stay on the PROPER mudbytes repository though!

You know it would probably be more effective if you asked politely rather than DEMANDing. Is there a license/anything in license terms about where the codebase can be made available? If there isn't you don't really have a right to demand *anything*. It's not like you're claiming copyright infringement or plagiarism. Creating something and setting terms for it's use are two different things. If you didn't want it on the internet then you shouldn't have put it there. Now that it's there, there's nothing keeping anyone from mirroring it if it's freely available.

I do not wish my muds codebase that i released to be associated with the Locke... plain and simple.. I DID NOT choose to upload the code to his server therefore i do not wish him distributing it with out my approval.

If you're looking for Diku code, probably not. MudBytes has 1780 Diku related files and I only carry 474. My Diku repository is shrinking. On the bright side I added over 200 Mush, Mux, Muck and LP files yesterday.

This "archive" is just Locke's own website he's promoting because no one wants to host his license-violating crap. The content includes "Herb's Vacation Photos" and he lists this site on his online resume. Of course, he may be lying about it being his creation since he also claims to have invented YouTube, influenced the design of SimCity and a variety of other delusions and exagerrations.

Ok 1) fullgrownmonkey.com is a test platform for my commercial hosting service -- http://www.fullgrownmonkey.com/muds is where you can find the file archive. The stuff at fullgrownmonkey.com isn't hosted there - so if you see a link about a MUD archive, it isn't a link to anything real. 2) I believe -LOL- Tyche just deleted someone's codebase from MudBytes.net who was asking that I remove it from my archive because I'm the one hosting it. I respond to that person with: HAHA and no I think I'll leave it on my own server, thanks. 3) I didn't influence the design of SimCity, EA/Maxis made a product base off some work in my portfolio called URBZ: Sims in the City after I submitted my portfolio video. The timing of the new product and the likeliness that I influenced it is pretty high considering I pitched it during an interview with them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9V2bPwBStQ then I interviewed in 2002 and 2003 at CMU's TOC, and URBZ came out in like 03/04 -- funny that they won't credit me but they will stick my name (sort of) in a title.. its not like I can use that on a resume (which usually requires you list AAA titles you've worked on that have shipped)

You believe wrong. (Comment added by Delic on Thu Jul 29 22:22:16 2010)Just a side note Locke, you realize of course you're distributing a whole bunch of code that you claim is violating your retroactively applied license condition? I mean, if the guy who's distributing it is the guy claiming he's violating his own license, right? Also, your archive of MudBytes is 5 months out of date ;).

A couple of points. Not only does LoCRelease.tgz contain Surreality and Locke's OLC code, but it's also completely unattributed and uncredited. Not only is it ironic that Locke is distributing it, but how can anyone here sanction distributing it uncredited either!?

For historical purposes, I am keeping it as a part of the archive. I don't like what this person has done, and would not like to see it repeated in the future, however I don't feel anything justifies erasing material from the archive.
We'll be moving it to divineright.org in the near future.

The main problem I'd have with that archive is that it is hosted by a person who is demonstrably irrational and ostensibly a habitual liar. Someone with no good reputation to defend has nothing to lose through the corruption of the data they provide.
Avoiding having just one reliable comprehensive mud code repository is a good idea.
A Locke-run repository doesn't address that.

Locke keeps delusionally believing that ostracizing a lying thief is somehow detrimental to the MU* community. That's of course not the case.
It's also funny that he repeatedly uses the "Don't burn Alexandria" comment over and over. I think he must have recently seen an old episode of SeaQuest DSV or something and learned of the library. Ignoring Locke and his schitzophrenic claims isn't burning a library, it's emptying out the waste basket and tossing the garbage out.

HA! He can't even come up with an original put-down. Last week on TMS I pondered whether Locke's insecurity and need to lie and manufacture "accomplishments" were the result of either being unloved by his parents or overcompensation for having a small *CENSORED*.
Now this tells me that DEFINITELY heard someone mention the library of Alexandria and that he DEFINITELY didn't create OLC. He hasn't a creative bone in his body; not even enough to turn a phrase on his own.
