First I would like to apologize if this post isn't in the correct board. Second I would like to apologize if this question has already been asked and subsequently answered. I did a search and found thousands of topics...

I was active in the community many years ago on a windows based system and I would like to get back into the roll of things but now I'm using ubuntu and I have no idea how to connect to any MUD. I'm not sure which client I should use. If anyone can offer any help I would really appreciate it.

You can telnet in from the command line. To get to a MUD at example.com on port 4000:

telnet example.com 4000

Lots of other clients work on windows. Go to synaptic package manager (System > Administration > Synaptic) and search for "mud client". Additionally, Mushclient and Portal both work under wine.

Also, searching for Ubuntu mud client on google would have gotten you a plethora of results.

I use and recommend kildclient. It doesn't have some of the fancier features that I never use anyway (like an inline mapper), but it's a fairly solid client and its scripting support (via perl) is versatile.

kmuddy.com is a great KDE client.

I installed the ubuntu 9.04 binaries on an ubuntu 10.04 install with no problems.

I've had good luck with Zmud and Mushclient on Ubuntu with WINE.

Mudlet.org and Kildclient.

Technically, you don't actually need a client other than
Ubunto itself, if you choose. Just open a terminal, and use
telnet <mudname> <port no.>. or <IP> <port no.> Aaaah, the
wonders of Linux :)
