Hey guys, I'm new to the art of creating a vertual world.:p Though I've been an avid mudder for 8+ years. I decided to try my hand at coffeemud, seeing as how it's rather newbie friendly, it has a lot of nice built in features, and it seems a lot easier to learn then the older, more code oriented diku offsprings. I have a couple questions that I would really appreciate help with. First of all, are there any beginners resources for the learning of java? I plan to revamp a lot of the skills/spells/races/classes/combat etc etc, and I know very little about any sort of programming. Secondly, does anyone know where I can find an ascii graphic designer? For the intro page on the mud. I probably have a heck of a lot more questions... I just can't think of them atm. Thanks in advanced for any assistance!

I would suggest first reading over this about starting a MUD: http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/bbshowpost.php?bbsubject_id=2293

For the ASCII, if you only want text, try Mudmagic's figlet server. Don't really know about any programs for images. You can of course make your own in a text editor.
