So, reading a recent thread on the forums (namely this one: http://www.mudconnect.com/discuss/discuss.cgi?mode=MSG2&area=promotions&message=22461&page=1 ) Got me wondering if what I'm hoping to do on my Mud once I open it is against the DIKU License: rewarding/giving/thanking/whatever-word-you-want donations with a statue in a 'Hall of Donations' type area that just comments how much the player gave (if they want their name and/or donation amount revealed). Obviously, being a statue that they can't put in a house or where they want, it doesn't have any in-game value but could obviously be seen as a 'status icon' to the players or some such, I guess. (You know, the "I donated 100$ look at my statue I'm so awesome how much did YOU donate?!" thing) Would this be against the terms of use of the Rom Codebase (and, subsequently, the DIKU license)?

That's more of a grey area, but anything within the game falls within the scope of the licence, so you should really ask the Diku team. On the surface your request seems reasonable enough, but I've seen muds where non-donators are pressured and bullied by donators, and in one case a player was literally banned for publically stating that they had no intention of ever donating. Better, IMO, to keep such things out of the mud entirely.
Why not just place the "Hall of Donations" on your website or external forums? You could even reward people then, giving them access to "private member" forums, giving their forum accounts cool titles and/or avatars, maybe even giving them email forwarding addresses from your domain, that sort of thing.

That's actually a much better idea, and I hadn't thought of it. Yeah, I know of places (though I haven't played any) where there's some level of pressure to think that you "should" donate, and I really don't want that to happen.
Thanks for the tip :)
