So i saw a link floating above the mudconnector on this fine saturday morning, advertising www.mudmaker.com

this is disgusting. lol.

i signed up for a free acccount just to see what this is all about, your own mud, no coding required, everything is as easy as filling out a form.

Ya, so u can check it out, if you are looking for a quick laugh, visit a mud the have up :P and when u create your 15 room mud, you can host on thier website for only 15 bucks! wow!!!! and u will never have rights to your code, and you will also never be able to run it on your own server.

rip-off.

get a 5$ shell account at mu-host.com and email me, i will set you up a circlemud with everything they have over there for free if u dont know how. this is just terrable lol.

It's pretty funny. I logged onto the test MUD and looked around the small area it has, noticed very few bugs/typos, probably the worst thing is that the list of commands is one word with no spaces and no wrapping...

Then, I tried the 2 customers that they have listed, one whose MUD is down right now, and the other was pretty funny. Their race and class list is...

...which is apparently sensitive to spaces at the end of things put into the creation form, since when I picked half elf paladin , I had to type 'half elf ' and 'palidin ', both with spaces at the end, and paladin spelled with no A in it.

I don't their site is that bad....if you're a 12 year old twink looking for a way to build the "greatest dbz mud ever" *eye rolling* Seriously people, go get LINUX FOR DUMMIES and set up your own freakin' mud base yourself. Its not that hard. I know several bases have a forum or mailing list so its users can share ideas and such. NakedMud and Dawn of Time are two examples. Sheesh. That site needs to be umm....well I'm just not sure what it needs.

You're expecting high quality with those 2 hours a week you get to test your Mud?

High quality? 2 hours a month? I don't expect high quality from that no, but I think a little proof reading and use of a dictionary couldn't hurt. Their one customer misspelled "fantacy" right in their mud description. Seriously though, a MU* host where I can't go in and code/reboot myself I have no use for, and in my opinion no one else should either.

Oh please! I always wanted to run my own MUD...Honest! And I want to pay these people my hard earned cash to have them keep everything I create. Hrm.....

I'll find a good fantasy book, rip off 85% of the names as NPC's...then make a verbatim copy of each page for room descs....Yes...And have all the mobs running about acting out their roles in the book.

Sounds like they need to invest a bit in building a decent 'flagship' mud first. The fact that one doesn't seem to exist does make me wonder how well the code's been tested.
