When you are thirsty and instead of going down the hall for a drink you type "drink fountain" on the keyboard.

I once actually said "Say" before saying the actual sentence...

That's sad :(

I often MUD while chatting through AIM, and every once in a great while, I'll catch myself reading the mud in the background while typing on AIM. Not zesty when you sit there and start typing seemingly senseless mud commands to some girl in another country.

I've also caught myself typing 'look' in Linux and 'ls' in a mud, when I'm going between playing and coding

That function doesn't only come in SMAUG... I have it as well, but I just like using Say...

Never done that... I have, however, tried to close MSN or AIM chats before by typing "quit" in the command line. Thankfully most of the people I chat with are mudders too...

I have actually typed save then quit in AIM once talking to my head
coder....I also do all sorts of wierd mud related stuff on my shell.
(mud commands that should not be used in shell. then I try and
figure out why look is not listing files...)I have also made a
command called LS for my mud. it is also logged...so this way I
know if I type LS instead of LOOK I know I have been playin too
much...

i do that a lot too. Another one is typing building commands while playing. Like expecting 'stat ' to work when I find a random object i've never seen. I mess up and type 'goto' a lot while playing as well.

Since I tend to play mages and have the gate spell, I set up an alias for the gate spell of "goto" so that way I don't look as foolish trying to get somewhere.

But I have done many of the things noted by all the posts so I guess I can say I am addicted... even teaching my son (12 yrs old) how to build areas.

Thinking open door, down, east, open door, enter car, put keys ignition, turn keys, move gearshift to drive, push gas pedal, use steering wheel. Instead of just doing it.

And of course... There are those moments at school when your pencel breaks in the middle of a test and you just think to yourself "oedit 1034 flags sharp" or "ocreate Flacs sharpened pencil of testing"

oh and those wonderful moment when your friend is making you mad and you just say "you know what? slay jeremy!" and then he looks at you in confusion and you just sigh to him "now i have to shoot myself...damn muds"

Oh, and when you want to go to your girlfriends house and just keep growling "Why havnt my parants bestowed me with the goto command?" and when that fails you think about using charm person on your parants to give you the car key's...

When your inner view of yourself becomes a warped perception of every mud character youve ever played... SO basicly i am "flac the level 1 magi-assassin, Admin of questing, builder of the magic stick, lord of all things that get under IMP's skin"

Oh, and when your feeling good about yourself so you say in front of your friends "title &Ris &Wthe &Gman" and you say it WITH the and sign-R and sign-W andsign-G and actauly expect your words to change color...

and when you find yourself constantly saying to your friends "does a jig"


I feel like such a loser, im goign to go wallo in my self proclaimed idiocy and sleep untill my movement has regained enough for me to make it to the gun cabnit... Then of course i will have to practice my pick lock skill, and hope that the combination of my low accuracy, and my worthless "projectile weapon's" skills can get the job done... That is to say, if my strength is great enough for me to wield the pistole... I might have to level up a few times and train it before i can do it...

1.) When you use terms like 'gasp', 'sigh' or 'twirl' in speech with you friends. They give you some nasty looks...

2.) When you dream about commands. I made myself sleep for another 1/2 hour today because I had to dream about the commands or something...strange...

3.) When you dream about your MOO friends in text ;)

4.) When you want to emphasize words on AIM with '//' but can't because your friends don't understand and they don't understand socials either *grrss*...

5.) When you find yourself /constantly/ thinking about the MOO and ideas for your next RP or what to build etc...

lol flac i've done this before and the funny thing is it was with my friend named Jeremy as well. hmm.... maybe it is something with guys named jeremy?

i've often wished i was bestowed with the goto command IRL, i also think it would be cool to use "charm person" on my commanding officers in the navy... or a really hot chick that believes in "waiting till marriage"

and that final bit about shooting yourself, that's priceless. i was in stitches when i read that part LOL.

A daily occerance(sp) for me on any command line prompt.

I'm a MUSHer, myself, so these might be a little off from the MUDers.

1) When having a conversation with someone IRL, you find yourself thinking '@emit %R%TMirikon waves to his friend, Jenny. Wearing a roguish grin on his face, the young man chuckles slightly, and says, "Hey there, Jenny! How ya been?"' before doing it.

2) When you daydream about past RP, including @emits.

3) When you daydream about the different ways past RP could have gone, including @emits.

4) When you are mad at someone IRL, and you catch yourself considering telling them off via pages.

5) When you wake up and the first thing you do is try to check your @mail, then realize that you aren't online.

6) When someone asks your name, and you have to pause to remember whether you are online or not.

7) When you start having conversations with your characters inside your head.

8) When you want to go somewhere IRL, and you try to remember what the @tel number is.

9) When you are tired/sick/hurt you try to @decompile yourself to see what's wrong.

10) When you want to know where one of your friends is, and you try to check the +where.

Oh yeah, done that before. My favorite is, when talking to
a girl who doesn't have a clue what muds are, I once got
confused between which window was in the foreground and
typed my wake up commands:

drink skin
eat meat
sc
l

...she was a bit confused about that. I do the score one
all the time when talking online. Its also fun when you
start using mud emotes when just talking to your friends:
'Yeah I think the teacher graded me unfairly on fridays
test, growl, curse teacher.'
