Hi everybody,
i'm currently hosting a Dystopia 1.4 X-Mas Edition on my home linux server, but yeah, thats that, i'm tryin to make a Godwars MUD more RPG like and stuff like that and i'm open to more ideas, etc etc feel free to give me suggestions, heres a mini concept i came up with:

3 Races and 3 Classes
Races: Human, Elf, Orcs Classes: Warrior, Archer, Mage
each class got their hometown and a class that their good at, like Elves are good Archers and Orcs would make a good Warrior, but of course under a different name, ala Barbarian? etc, hope you guys are not lost, and theres gonna be 2 hometowns for each race, each hometown will make their skill vary, because 2 hometown, one good and one evil. so say a elf, when their first created, they pick the evil hometown and train their stats mainly in wisdom and intelligence, and since their in a evil hometown, their gonna be better of as a mage instead of an archer, or another example like a elf in a good hometown, trained in strength and speed? their gonna be a fast elf because of their strength and speed, or say they train in speed and intelligence, they'll be better as a Mage. hope i didn't confuse you guys, tell me waht you guys think, also I have another concept is where there are Cities, Clans, and Kingdoms, cities/towns/etc can make alliances with other cities etc same with clans and such, but still trying to figure out what else to do with it, thanks guys, please give me some suggestions/feedback ;)

Here is my two cents on the whole idea of each race/class starting
in a differnt hometown. I dont think its the best route to go, untill
you have been up and running for a while with a large playerbase.
Why? Well for one, it cuts down on player interaction. If i log in,
decide to be an elf, and start in the elf hometown, and the other
players start in another town, then i wont be able to interact with
them until i travel to that town. I think that when muds are new,
players should all log into the same hometown for the most
interaction between them. That way it doesnt feel like your playing
a one player game, and will bump into other players from time to
time, even if the player base is low.

You didn't make the hometown skill affect very clear. No matter where an elf starts, if they train their physical stats [str/dex] they'll make a better physical fighter [warrior/archer]. If they train their mental stats [int/wis] then they'll make for a better mental figher [mage/cleric]. Also, not to bash you, but it doesn't sound very well thought out to me...just a bunch of ideas thrown together as you wrote the post.

I personally don't think Dystopia makes for a good roleplaying codebase, it was made with pk in mind. That being said, if you want to rewrite code for a year, feel free (I'm sure you'll know a lot about the code and that is always a plus). Generally, a role playing game has a great deal of character fleshing out, which Dystopia completely lacks. I didn't see any ideas in your above post about such issues, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
