Started playing this mud today VIA the mudconnector client,
was accused of being "Tijer" whoever that is, and was banned!

Great way to keep your players!

Wont be returning!

I'm Tijer, im sorry you were banned but they seem to believe
that anyone who connects from mudconnector is me! For some odd
reason. I used to code for them, but had a falling out with
one of the Immortals, you should try out my version of the
codebase @ godwars.net 2770 (before they try to tell you its a
stolen version, the version i gave them is based upon this
code!)

We cannot tell you what behavior you did that was suspicious, as was said on the mud to you. If you are who we think you are, we are not going to help you get better. If you are not, we ARE sorry that you are being caught in a crossfire of drama BS that you have nothing to do with. We informed you of suspicions right off the bat, and on the one question we asked of you, you do not remember what you did a couple moments before. This post and response is also not something that allays that suspicion. We do not randomly ban, nuke, or accuse anyone. Common sense is common sense. If it has happened in the past, it will happen again. If you are truly new, once time has dulled your perception of Genesis, give it another try. The drama bubble will pop one day. Genesis existed and continues to because of the love of the mud from the players. It is out of respect for them, and whoever continues to add to the mud because of their love and loyalty, that we will continue to be diligent and make sure their work, thoughts, contributions, and loyalty is not betrayed by anyone.

Um, so what if he WAS Tijer? Why would that warrant an instant banning? What harm could he do to
your MUD? Seems like an (whatever the equivalent to an itchy trigger finger, but for the banhammer,
would be).

This is exactly my question. I've had to demote and/or archive a number of very high level gods and administrators for a variety of reasons in the last 17 years. Not once have I needed to ban them for more than a few minutes.

The fact that Genesis has done so, and responds this vociferously after an extended time, strikes me as an extremely big, extremely red flag.

We're not going to gossip. If this makes anyone not like our mud, they're more than welcome to have that opinion via whatever makes them have it.

The history of drama is not going to be plastered everywhere by us. It was accepted, dealt with and moved on from as best as possible. If a player wants to know, they may ask. Otherwise, they're not going to be bothered with it, just as we're trying to not bother everyone here as much as we're able.

The current actions, are not going to be allowed. Genesis was, is, and will continue to be run by players. Immortals that were and are players, players that stay as mortals: both are the same. There is no arrogance or god complexes here. Players, all of them, contribute in how THEY are able and willing to do so. Allowing anyone to betray this in any form is not acceptable to us. We will not explain how we came to our decision on removing the original poster. This decision of withholding information is explained in the earlier and other post.

This covers any issues in the current and foreseeable future. It's not great that the first thing to do with Genesis is something that comes from things we thought were done and over with, but we will not be advertising until we believe Genesis has been thoroughly checked for a multitude of things or modified. We're here to play, we're here to have a loyal and loved community, like always.

I have been on many administrations since 1992 when I first really joined the mud community. I have never in that time met someone as childish and problematic as Tijer. I don't care what he has accomplished in the community as a whole, he has absolutely done everything in his power to flame us and be a bother. He is the only person I have -EVER- had to ban to get rid of. I asked him to do the adult thing and just leave us be..he chose to be a pest. I am not a child - and do NOT tolerate childish behaviour. You can bitch and moan all you want - but there are reasons that a ban was put into place. I can post emails - logs - and conversations with Tijer from other people if I need to prove my points. I wouldn't have to use ban at all if he could just grow up alittle and stop logging on my game -> talking trash. All I ask is that you leave me and my mud alone, and focus more on making your mud a better place in the mud community. Thanks for caring enough to start crap on here Tijer - I didn't think I meant that much to you!

PS: If you were caught in the crossfire, my appologies. I am just trying to give the community another mud without a bunch of drama.

Ok -

So you were not interested in Genesis until I decided to
start it up after 6 years of being dormant. I appreciate all
of the things you have done to improve the game, but I feel
very disrespected. Firs you blow up and start up another
version without ever talking to me about the problems with
Ace. I know you were given a copy, but what the *CENSORED* is up
with that?! You didn't give two *CENSORED*s about it until --- I -
-- tried to bring it back from the dead. Then you talk down
about the MUD and *CENSORED* to top it off. Log on and try and
start *CENSORED* like a little kid. You make it go public - I
don't give a flying *CENSORED*. Run your own version just to spite
me - I don't give a flying *CENSORED*. But I will tell you that I
am in total shock over your behavior! I could have expected
it from a child..not a grown ass man. You go ahead and run
your game, but I want nothing to do with it or anyone
associated with it. I can promise you that I will not bother
you or your version. Very disappointed with someone highly
talked about within the MUD community.

I was quite polite in the original email i sent him explaining
that i would no longer be working on the MUD due to actions of
another Immortal there, and quoted above was the response i
got

You demoted ME because I was 'working' for Tijer as a
builder! I was even trying to alleviate the drama between

BTW, if you recall, you ASKED Tijer to assist you in
stabilizing and balancing your MUD. Everything he did, was
thrown out the window and changed back.

YOU can post all those logs and whatnot, but YOU don't even
look at them yourself, nor do you understand them. You
always blame the person that everyone else goes after, but
you don't even take the time to look at the work that was
done or WHY. Do you even look at your code?

We care about all MUDs in the community, as it should be. We
didn't bring the drama, nor do we want it. We also don't
care for baseless accusations, speculations, or general
drama that you are attempting to portray is happening.

All this is NOT helping the MUD community. At all.

There is no 'or else', 'period' or junk like that. It's a
plain and simple fact. I have been trying to get people to
play MUDs because of the actual facts (less resources used
is my primary) and [often] safe for work.

Now, unless Rencer wishes to bring forth actual evidence of
'issues' derived, I suggest he do so, otherwise, well, oh
wait, I can't log into that MUD and play and have a good
time because I'm banned!

There are people who have issues with Tijer? That's news to me. I've interacted with him off and on for the past decade,
and never had a problem with him or encountered anyone who did (or at least not anyone outspoken about it). This thread
doesn't really reflect well on Genesis: The Return or its staff. It does little to diminish Tijer's reputation. Was this
the intended goal?

Personally i think they are jealous.. of what i dunno, im
just someone who likes the GodWars codebase and is trying to
continue work on it, by helping newbies with issues, and
some old timers too. The fact that ive helped so many people
over the years, and been screwed over by some of them,
doesnt change my goal. KaVir, when he created GodWars back
in 1994, created something that i wish to keep going.

People can try to diminish my reputation, to be honest, many
people have tried over the years, i just take what they say
with a pinch of salt and move on.. best way to be, the only
reason i responded to the original post in this thread was
to apologize for the fact that they believed he was me, just
because he connected from mudconnector.

Yes, this thread give Genesis: The Return a bad reputation,
they are the ones who screwed me over.. not the other way
around, as Rencer, and Oogityboogity (which i believe is
Balin from their mud) I said i wasnt going to respond
anymore, but felt like i had to.. People who know me, know
that all i try to do is for the good of the GodWars
community, there always will be bad apples in said
community, just like there is in everything.

Now people please move on.. i know i have...

I have to agree with Tijer on this. To be honest there is no
reason for anyone to badmouth another without justifiable
reason. This isn't one of them.

We all wish for MUDs to thrive and to share knowledge about
the code so we can improve them to make them our own little
game that people can join and have a good time.

While this thread may have tarnished the reputation of
Genesis: The Return, that was by their own hand and not by
any other member of any other MUD. Things were said, true,
but it's up to the player to decide which MUDs they wish to
ultimately spend their time and play on.

Look - I am not here to bash anyone..or try and make them look bad. The only thing that I ask is that we are left alone. I do not come onto your mud and deliberately start crap. You did this after I asked you not to Tijer..and I understand you were mad at the time over things that involved Ace. You QUIT before I could even handle the situation (and booted up your own version - rightfully so). I didn't have time to do anything about him altering the code you added! What happened is in the past, and I will not continue to sit here and argue the matter. I told you that I appreciated everything you have done for me, what more can I do? I know that -both- of us were upset over the way things happened..and I for one am tired of the back and forth drama. It's done on my end - I am sure it is on yours too!
