All of which were derived from your work, no doubt.

Not all. I do not know where "magic gem slots" originated,
but the "Reckoning" is a mudder's version of Highlander's
"Quickening"

That's a big no-no.

Souls" MUD

Can you prove that R.A. Salvatore has indeed read/played this
MUD and copied it?

Nothing is original anymore. Everything is taken from
something. There are only so many ways to make a cupcake.

It's not my job nor desire to, it's obvious because the
features are in MUDs. One thing of note, they mention the
"Well of Souls" in the first seconds of the game. This goes
on to reflect various MUD features present in several games.
We are pretty sure he is aware of MUDs, and Bethesda (Skyrim)
admitted they did some extensive "data mining" into open
source RPG games (MUDs were specifically mentioned). Since EA
copied them, you can see where this is going..

@Locke

Your one thing of note couldn't be an even bigger epic fail
if you tried. The MUD you seem to reference, opened up its
doors in 2005 (and no longer even seems to be around).

Now lets consider for a moment:
- The natural cave underneath the Dome of the Rock is called
the Well of Souls.
- The first book in the 'Well of Souls' series by Jack L
Charters, was published in 1977.
- A game from Synthetic Reality called 'Well of Souls' was
released back in 2001. (Maybe you mean this? I don't know)
- A Well of Souls has appeared in a number of games over the
years.

Care to provide a link to where a representative of Bethesda
admitted to 'data-mining' during the development of Skyrim?
I don't recall any such admission being made at any point in
the last 5 years.

Finally, you've got to be kidding yourself if you think that
in a multi-billion dollar industry, developers are going out
and stealing MUD code (from hobbyists) for their latest
greatest project.

Pretty much what Jodah said.

You've got to be kidding me if you're making this post for
anything other than trolling.

Why do you have such a hard-on for targeting this one game?
The item system is Diablo.
The graphics are Fable and WoW.
The craft/object collection is Dragon Age.
The name has Kingdoms in it.
Here's a big one; The game is an RPG.

Bottom line..
Who cares?

Wanna know the funny part about all these MUDs you're
pulling up?
Their concepts were lifted from something else in the first
place.

BOOM,
Realization.
Astonishing, I know.

Ideas can't be copyrighted, and it's very unlikely that any of the ideas *stolen ideas were patented.

*Re-used is a much more accurate term.

PS: Why are you posting on TMC again Locke? Your previous account was banned, the fact that you're posting with a new account rather than with your old one leads me to assume you weren't unbanned either.

Of course you're old, you're a MUDder. Young MUDders are like
unicorns. If you were young you'd be playing WoW.

(Except of course that I'm quite young and have never played
WoW, so there goes that theory.)

What a joke- I couldn't be bothered to read all the threads so my apologies.

KoA is a decent mix of gameplay lifted from 100s of different games, that includes several of the popular rpgs in the last 30 years.

Fable, Diablo, Elder Scrolls, Warcraft

Who in turn lifted their ideas from DnD and other PnP games.

Who got their ideas from legand such as LoTR and and further concepts that mimic reflections and distortions of our world. (Especially mythology).

Ie, Gary Gygax "Dieties and Demigod", "Unearthed Arcana".

Could someone please post the damn address to this mud
already? It actually sounds like an awesome game.. well from
what I've been able to uncover. Seriously, who gives a damn?
Oh look.. diablo, holy crap they stole stuff from nethack, or
maybe angband, or maybe even rogue! AHHH!!

Like someone said further up, everyone steals ideas from
everyone else.

I really want to play KoA.. dang it.

It's not a MUD, it's an action RPG for PC/PS3/360.

He wants the mudconnector users in all of their keyboard power
to go after a big company because they kill mobs just like how
muds kill mobs.
