I want to try something that hasn't (I hope) been done yet. If I get some decent interest in either idea I'll get a server and get working, but I wanted some input from others so tell me if you like either idea.

1. A roleplaying mud where you either play as a police officer or a criminal in a large city (havent decided which, maybe fictional). In either case you would work your way up a heirarchy. For the police you would start as a normal patrolman, or maybe bicycle cop, and your job would be to catch criminals, skills would include everything from disarming suspects, drug detection, to when you work your way up to SWAT, tactical combat manuevers, you gain experience from capturing criminals. As a criminal you will work your way up from a street punk to the head of a gang, or if you like to work alone, a famous robber or killer. You will gain experience from committing crimes and evading police. There should be a thriving community of mobs who are scripted to react at least somewhat. Anyway, you can fill in the rest of the details.

2. A roleplaying game where you are a member of a modern military, the game would include several countries (probably fictional) with their own technologies and philosophies. You try to work you way up the ranks of the military and whenever engagements happen, which would occur at different points along the 'front' several times a day, you would enter a special 'combat' mode where you move around on a battlefield and can use weapons in your arsenal against the enemy. It would focus on infantry although you could call in air support, artillery, and such if you are able to figure out where you and they are on the battlefield, but only if you are a radioman or have one with you (each player would likely have their own squad (low rank) up to a large division (high rank) of soldiers under them who will move about the battlefield as directed).

I am an experienced mud administrator, I ran a circlemud for several years so I know how to get a project going, but what I am not, is a good programmer, (I can code circle enough to do basic modifications, but not well enough for something this scale) I may know some coders who would help get me started, but if you are a programmer and like either of my ideas, please send me an email. And I am open to ANY codebase though I would prefer a DIKU derivative and not a mush/mux/moo or any such thing.
